Reminder:   Jasig is co-sponsoring the 2-3-98 Conference this week at SUNY
Delhi, and there's still time to sign up for onsite *or* live web
registration.

This year's conference, "Technology During an Economic Crisis, The Benefits
of Open Sourcing", will focus on the financial opportunities through Open
Source technologies and techniques, balanced with case studies delivered by
campuses that have deployed various open technologies.

The program will include a presentation of Rensselaer's implementation of
Jasig's incubated ESUP HelpDesk application by Mark Miller, Acting Director,
Academic and Research Computing and Gary Schwartz, Director of
Communications & Middleware Technologies, both from Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute.   Gary is also the current Chair of Jasig's Bedework Steering
Committee.

Other presenters include:

Theresa Rowe, CIO, Oakland University, talking about a "right-sourced and
open source future."
John Harris, Director of Network and Security Services at The Sage Colleges,
demonstrating Asterisk VOIP;
Brian Hutzley, CFO and VP Business and Finance from SUNY Delhi, presenting
SUNY Delhi's approach to open source and savings realized;
Keith Landa, Director of Instructional Technology at SUNY Purchase,
discussing hosting options with Moodle
Rosalyn Metz, Systems Administrator for Curricular Support at Wheaton
College, presenting on Wheaton's use of Amazon Web/Cloud Services;
Joseph Ugoretz, Director of Technology and Learning from City University of
New York speaking on Wordpress as an e-Portfolio.

In addition to these speakers, the final day will be a Moodlemoot dedicated
to all things Moodle.

The three-day event is just next week, August 11th - 13th, with registration
still open.
