Prior to sending my original email I set Spring Security logging to  DEBUG and 
I

>From the log I'm able to discern that "AnonymousAuthenticationToken" is being 
used, but I'm at a loss for why it is being used; I was under the impression 
that "UsernamePasswordAuthenticationToken" should/would be used. Thanks.
