Hi Scott, Thanks for your answer! It provided me with an incentive to look at the problem from a new angle and I just realized that the answer is to not map the AuthenticationFilter to "/login.action" but "/*". I will need to test it a bit more though to be sure but it seems that in a "private" setup of Jira this is what I need. In a "public" setup the original behaviour (displaying Jira's login screen) is actually quite logical.
