If all of the above solutions don't work for you. Use mod auth cas apache 
module to do this. In your virtual host directive for site A tell mod auth to 
do the authentication, in your scenario it will be a gateway, for all other 
sites on servers 1 and 2. Same applies to all other sites of course.
