We built one ~10-ish years ago long before any open source or proprietary product could have met our needs. Lots of the ideas in OpenRegistry match our processes, but we're so invested in our custom software it'd be hard if not impossible to switch. There's a lesson in there: you're wise to carefully investigate and consider the choice because it will be with you for the long haul. We're pleased with our choice because it puts our destiny in our own hands. I'm sure you could say the same thing of open source software generally.
