Hi all,

I just got this email from one of my CAS clients:

"cas.utah.edu<http://go.utah.edu> (not real) has a strange issue when it passes
back the Users ID. It passes back whatever the user typed in so if you type
U0xxxxxx or u0xxxxxx you will get that field back. The issue arrises when your
using those user id fields on your site. If you do not force the passed back ID
to lowercase you can end up with two user accounts. It would be nice if CAS
just passed back a lowercase userid no matter what the individual typed in the
field. I don't know if configuring CAS is your responsibility however I thought
I should let someone down there know and I figured you would know who to point
this issue out to. "

I am pretty sure our LDAP (OpenDJ) back end uses lower case for the DN (I have
always used lower case). So I would expect a login fail if the case was
incorrect. Being late (slightly) on a weekend I am clueless how this works.

It is a 3 day weekend for us, so no urgency, but any hints are appreciated.
Should I post this on cas-dev?

[note] Upper case U vs. lowercase u has been problematic in the 6 years I have
worked here.

Cheers,

Bryan
