I haven't honestly looked into repcache that hard because the behavior of memcached alone seems perfectly suitable for our (and arguably most) needs. I did try to track down the patches a while back for review (~1 yr ago), but at that time they appeared poorly maintained, which immediately sent up red alarms for a production HA solution based on them. If that functionality were part of the mainline memcached product I'd be much more willing to consider it.
