Have you set your login webflow for SPNEGO only? We have had issues where JCIFS resolver worked fine using username and password. Then used SPNEGO for AD SSO ok, but couldnt fall back to username and password.
Also keep an eye on the AD event log, proved invaluable when we were checking out error messages on auth too.
