Mine ldap is setup like du=localhost, o=Zepto, cn=admin and password = "my password"
Sounds like a manager account used to bind in order to perform a search. Before we continue the discussion, you should be familiar with the mechanics of how the BindLdapAuthenticationHandler works. I believe https://wiki.jasig.org/display/CASUM/LDAP has a good comparison of Bind vs FastBind, which helps to underscore the 2-phase search/bind mechanics I'm referring to. Please read that page carefully then come back and we'll go from there.
