I have a CAS server deployment that has been running fine for several
months.  Today I decided to look at the Services Manager as I was
thinking of making some changes.

I found that something was timing out during the login process.  As
far as I can tell, this is specific to the Services Manager, as loging
to other services works juts fine.

I see the following in my log file

     URI: /cas/services/j_acegi_cas_security_check
     Cause: java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out

I turned on lots of debugging & it seems like things are fine until
the services client tries to validate its ticket, witrh

https://test-cas.tabbysplace.org:8443/cas/serviceValidate?ticket=ST-29-J3dGnzAcderrfRJpjqmK0B-cas&service=https%3A%2F%2Ftest-cas.tabbysplace.org%3A8443%2Fcas%2Fservices%2Fj_acegi_cas_security_check

This is where the timeout happens.  I've been mucking around for
hoursd and am at loss as to how to debug this problem.

Any pointers appreciated.
