1) That looks right, although you might want to use "serviceValidate" which is part of the CAS 2.0 protocol: http://www.jasig.org/cas/protocol
2) Is it possible for you to use one of the standard CAS "clients" to protect your application? Then you don't have to implement the protocol. 3) What error are you getting? What do the logs say?
