I'm sure anybody who's ever actually used blackboard is quite used to being frustrated 8-/. Our blackboard admin forwarded me a thread from the blackboard administrators mailing list about this. Evidently somebody asked blackboard to fix it, so you could change those two settings independently, and they said the customization fees blackboard wanted were prohibitively expensive. Seriously? Update the GUI not to grey out one checkbox when the other one isn't selected? Blackboard sucks.
