If I want to customize my credentials, one step is modifying the AuthenticationViaForm to have the property "formObjectClass" set to the fully qualified class name of my new credentials. You know, AuthenticationViaForm is part of the core source, so I have to rebuild the source. Of course, I like something extensible rather than modifying the source code.
