That should work but you can also edit the loginFlow.xml to do a redirect instead of display the view. I don't have the exact syntax handy but the XML itself should have a good example.

Check out the settings in the default_views.properties file in /webapps/cas/WEB-INF/classes. You can modify casLoginGenericSuccessView.url and casLoginConfirmView.url to any URL you want.
