This is more of a mod_perl question. We had limitations with Apache-AuthCAS-0.4, so we enhanced the following
http://sourcesup.cru.fr/perlcas/ to work as a Authentication class, it got caching and all the necessary stuff and uses OPEN SSL. Also working fine with Apache 2.2 with mod_perl 2.x Let me know if any one interested. Only limitation is we currently use serviceValidate hence no proxy support.
