I did this from memory as I don't have an instance of uPortal installed at
the moment:

Is there anything obvious that appears to be missing (and does it appear to
include any steps you may have missed)?  Also if you try it out, please feel

The client was not throwing exceptions.  I believe the reason that
uPortal can't get the CAS NetID is related to a bad configuration.
Missing logging statements that should be emitted by the CAS client upon
processing the service ticket seem to support that claim.
