Hello all - I've subscribed to the list since 6/2004 but this is my first post. I've been watching for any posts related to building a CAS client for Sharepoint 2007 without much luck. As far as I can tell, Sharepoint seems to offer two possibilities that I feel have some hope for CAS integration - .Net Forms Based Authentication (FBA) and Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS). It appears the FBA solution is oriented to password validation mechanisms other than AD such as SQL databases so I'm thinking I may be able to fool this process on the client (MOSS) side into accepting a CAS ticket validation as a valid password submission. The ADFS solution appears to be possible if I attack the integration at the ADFS server side while using the default out-of-box client functionality on MOSS, but that's currently a cloudy area to me because I haven't learned enough about the innards of ADFS yet.
Here's a link for a primer on MOSS FBA - http://blogs.msdn.com/harsh/archive/2007/01/10/forms-based-authentication-in-moss.aspx Here's a link about MOSS ADFS integration - http://technet2.microsoft.com/Office/en-us/library/61799f9a-da01-4c11-b930-52e5114324451033.mspx?mfr=true If you've made any progress or are thinking about this issue please reply on or off-list as appropriate as I'd love to bounce ideas off someone working on the same issue.
