Kristin,

Are all of your applications behind the same domain (i.e. mycompany.com)?
If so, you could create your own "poor man's" gateway feature.

Essentially, have CAS set an additional cookie at the domain level which
basically just says "someone authenticated".  Your applications can look for
this cookie and if the cookie exists then it can redirect otherwise just
carry on with what it does. (alternatives to this include having your
application filter out known User Agents and not redirect for those, but
that requires maintaining a list).

Either solution requires some modification to the clients (which could be a
pain if you use a lot of different clients).  Its also important to note
that you do not want to use the cookie for anything more than detecting if
you should redirect to CAS or not (as the cookie can be set and modified by
anyone on the domain).

Maybe other people have better/different solutions.
