Hi there
We've recently just set up a CAS implementation, authenticating with Active
Directory via kerberos. We've managed to get our uPortal framework
authenticating via CAS without any problems, and are currently in testing
with a view to going live soon.
Previously we were "simulating" single sign on to other web based
authenticated applications within inline frames in the portal, for example
Outlook Web Access. This was achieved using the Simulated Single Sign On
documentation on the jasig wiki
(http://www.ja-sig.org/wiki/display/UPC/MS+Exchange
<https://exfs.adir.hull.ac.uk/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=https://exfs.adir.hull.ac.uk/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://www.ja-sig.org/wiki/display/UPC/MS%252BExchange>
). This was essentially
handled by retrieving username and password from IPerson, building a form
with these credentials embedded and redirecting to OWA, within an iframe
channel. Problem with using CAS now is that we can't get password from
IPerson as uPortal has no knowledge of the user's password, and so some of
our apps fail to work. We are not in a position currently to move all our
systems over to CAS, so wondered if there is anyway we can make uPortal
aware, as previous, of the user's password so we can continue for the time
being using our simulated SSO applications? I know this is going against
what CAS is about but has anyone out there using the uPortal framework
had a similar situation? Are there any work-arounds?
Thanks
