mod_auth_cas does not preserve POST content, although it is on our
informal wish list for a future version.

mod_auth_cas will automatically set the REMOTE_USER value upon
authentication.  Under what kind of condition are you looking to
set/unset REMOTE_USER?  Perhaps something like  mod_setenvif could be
used?
