I'd also recommend that *before* testing CAS you should test the LDAP search and bind operations with OpenLDAP's command-line tools to make sure everything is in place at the LDAP-level. Also examine OpenLDAP's (debug) logs. After OpenLDAP works as expected start configuring CAS accordingly.
