The JASIG Board of Directors is very pleased to announce the members of the
new CAS Project Steering Committee, the group that serves as the CAS
project's chief advocate. The CAS Steering Committee, working with the
CAS/JASIG communities, will be responsible for the strategic direction of
the project and will oversee and support its operations.

The Project Steering Committee model was initiated over a year ago by JASIG
to strengthen project governance and broaden community representation. The
CAS steering committee is comprised of members who were selected by the CAS
developer team, the JASIG membership, and the board of directors. Please
join me in congratulating and welcoming the following committee members:

Scott Battaglia - Rutgers University - Developer Representative
David Whitehurst - Cape Henry Technologies, Inc.
Eric Pierce - University of South Florida
Troy Bull - Iowa Foundation for Medical Care
Benn Oshrin - Rutgers University - JASIG Board Liaison

As executive director, I will join the group in an ex officio capacity.

The new committee will hold its first meeting at the upcoming JASIG
Unconference at UW-Madison. High on the list of agenda items will be the
CAS Vision and Roadmap, which has been under discussion for the past few
months (http://www.ja-sig.org/wiki/x/FgnP). The CAS community invites you
to participate in the dialog.

The group will report back on future developments via the JASIG Newsletter,
which is distributed monthly to the jasig-announce list (
http://www.ja-sig.org/wiki/x/RoBO).

Jonathan Markow
JASIG Executive Director
