Tracy: I use reverse proxy with CAS to hide application server URLs. We use Apache and mod_proxy. I don't have any issues using reverse proxy. Actually it's quite nice because I use dedicated servers just for CAS. Apache has been tested with security scanners and our CAS implementation is very secure.
You could have issues with URLs if e.g. you used virtual hosts and alter common paths. But, if you're just using reverse proxy to simulate a virtual on the front-server and then specifying a similarly named virtual you should be okay.
