I'm not exactly sure as I haven't been following this issue closely, but it
sure sounds like it:
(from CASSANDRA-342) "We already have a proposal from Jun over in #197 to
expose the ring as a string property, and (presumably) load it into a
storageservice. Which would more or less take care of things, although the
separation could be cleaner"
