because the flush marks the commitlog as "i've turned everything into sstables,
so you can skip replay up to this point" and then clearUnsafe wipes out the
sstables.
like the comment says, i'm not sure this is a very useful test... but other
things being equal i'd lean towards keeping it for now :)
