This is a place where trying to automate too much can very well make things
worse. Shutting nodes off automatically -- which is what leaving gossip
amounts to -- is very dangerous.
Again, the problem here is one that is readily discovered and easily corrected.
Logging a warning is a good improvement and completely free of unanticipated
side effects. :)
