0.2 shipped with a regression that breaks Cassandra's internal use of thrift (https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/THRIFT-529), so Cassandra devs cannot easily upgrade to the 0.2 compiler, but on-the-wire compatibility should be fine from a client perspective.
