Hello Jonathon,
The reason for 2.x is because it's a major release which isn't version 1 and which has lots of new functionality, especially the file transactions. The versions needs to be changed in the settings file. Whether it is called 2.0 or 2.2 is for me not really that important, but 2.2 is because of the way I tagged things in my own repository. AutoTx is shorter to write and works better with the file path limitations in the managed IO api, as well as explorer.exe which has the same limitation. There's been no real discussion about it, but I figure that as long as it's clear that it's been renamed, well, then it's for the better. The name of the project right now is all that's been changed, not the namespaces and such. I could change those as well though, for v. 2.3 ;). Thanks for updating the release guide. According to the Castle projects web site the next release of Transaction Services and ATM is meant to be 2.0, not 2.2; was that a mistype? I don't fully agree with labelling it 2.0 since we never had any GA release for 1.x, but if that is what everyone wants then that's what we'll go with. Strangely the versions in Settings.proj have 1.1.0 and 2.0.1. Has there been a discussion about renaming ATM to AutoTx? What do we gain by renaming it when everyone already knows it as ATM? The binaries, namespaces and any online documentation (including blogs) all refer to it as Automatic Transaction Management. I can follow through the release guide and update it as I go. Also, announcing the name change from "AutomaticTransactionManagement" to "AutoTx".
