I understand that, but wouldn't it make sense to at least keep a
version box somewhere in the wiki as well?
I guess I'd like the wiki to contain all relevant information for each
project, so a version and download link on the main pages would be
nice.

But of course, I am not aware of the plans for the wiki :)
