yip, found out about that (stupid me), it is actually the issue is the
other (viewcomponent in a mail view) one. The 'last param called:
isWeb' exception message sent me offtrack into investigating all kinds
of possibilities to provide that darn param (which also led to that
bogus code)

I learned in my debugging sessions, that all compiled views inherit
from BrailBase and thus can call it's methods. But I am not sure if
this is a good idea.
Just out of interest, would it be possible to have the views inherit
from something like CustomBrailBase, where I could inject some other
stuff, if I wanted to? Or any better extension points? I am asking
because I live with a patched BooViewengine, wehere I explicitly have
to insert UrlHelper and other services, so that in a no context
available situation, like a mail view, I can do ${Url.For(...)}
