u're right : "oid" is a valid notion for oo programming. but what about int 
id?
anyhow i think an oid pool would be a great feature.. and using an oid pool 
doesnot really mean that those who either want to bundle the id field could 
not do it anymore.. it just would be another feature..
btw, i dont know lots of ormap tools, i know but only one that dont use 
embedded field for identity management (i.e. no id _before_ preprocessing) : 
javablend.. and javablend really sucks in my sens (discussion is open also 
:))

another question : can we find some uml diags somewhere describing castor 
design?
