There are getters/setters for all fields of type String in the mapping
descriptor so I'm perplexed as to why it's reporting this error. Notice
that in the error you sent Castor is not reporting the method name:

Where those carets are above Castor usually reports the method name.
When I've gotten odd behavior like this before, I've taken the time to
go though the mapping descriptor and state the get-method and set-method
attributes for each <field> tag (see
http://castor.exolab.org/mapping.dtd). I would suggest this same
approach to begin to narrow down the problem.
I noticed that you only have the <xml> tag in your <field> tags in the
mapping descriptor. Are you only marshalling/unmarshalling objects with
Castor or is your goal to persist data to a database as well?
