our app runs against multiple databases, and this code works perfectly
against sql-server with the inet driver, and works with oracle and the inet
driver, just not oracle with the oracle driver. I assumed it must be a
oracle driver issue.

Is this a mapping issue? If you declare the field type as "double",
"integer", while in the table the real value is "null" or any other thing
which can not be casted in Java to the specified type, Castor will throw
this exception.

oracle thin and oci driver.
I noted that thomas said he solved it once before, did it manage to sneek
