Folks-
The PostgreSQL folks about beta-testing their 7.2 of postgres comming out.
This is the first 'released' version that will have the bug-fixes that are
needed to get Castor working with PostgreSQL out-of-the box. (So, rather than
having to get the postgresl.jar file from castor to work with the postgresql,
people can get the driver from postgresql themselves.
Anyways, I've done some initial testing of the driver and it looks good. Can
other people test the driver too? It can be found at :
http://jdbc.postgresql.org/download/jdbc7.2b1-1.2.jar
Also, for now on, they are making available from jdbc.postgresql.org the
drivers (latest released and cvs versions) from the website on a regular basis.
One word of warning, this is the jdk1.2 driver, not the jdk1.2e+ driver. So,
there's no PostgresqlDataSource class or other jdbc2.0 specific stuff.
Apparently, they don't want people messing with the jdbc2.0 stuff by default
since its not a) fully tested and b) up-to-date. (Of course, in my stuff, I
have a PoolMan datasource wrap the general postgresql connection, which works
fine for me.)
If folks could check to make sure this driver is compatiable with their current
code (least the ones that use postgresql) that would be great. It should work
with any 7.1.x and 7.2beta postgresql version just fine.
Thanks
Virtually,
Ned Wolpert <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
