I just  performed a cvs update to my working copy from the Exolab
CVS tree with no problems. Do you have a firewall limiting your
port accessibility?

Also, I was able to download castor-0.9.3-src.tgz and unpack it
just fine. Are you using Sun's version of tar or something other
than GNUTar? If so, use GNUTar.
