Hi ryan You might also want to check out CMP2.0. It includes features like lazy loading, relationships, ejbql, bulk processors, etc. Things to note are that CMP2.0 is: - EJB oriented - easier to develop web applications (long transactions)
Castor JDO is more application oriented, where EJB is not present. Good luck Keith -----Original Message----- From: Ryan Marsh [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, 11 January 2002 6:51 a.m. To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [castor-dev] Castor for DAO's in an EJB app I am considering using Castor with a new J2EE application we are developing. The app will be many Swing frontends with JBoss on the backend. We will be using BMP. I had planned to use Castor JDO within the DAO classes to simplify them and eliminate the need to write jdbc/SQL code by hand. Is this a good idea in your opinion? Or is this the wrong way to use Castor and should I just write the jdbc code? What I do not want to do is use Castor alone without EJB as many people suggest JDO is good for. I need the remote facilities provided by EJB and I like the db abstraction JDO provides. -ryan -- "...visit a dog show. Or a gathering of people who believe they have been abducted by aliens in UFOs.
