Check out http://castor.exolab.org/tips-tricks.html#XML:-Indentation for specific instructions... but change org.exolab.castor.indent=true in the properties file.
Also, you'll need to make sure that the incoming XML request is indented exactly like Castor does anyways... I'd remove all indentation in your case, before getting the digital signature, since that's the only way to be 100% sure the format is the same.
