A stray System.exit made it into the Test class in the testcase I posted with my previous message. As a result, It would not properly illustrate the issue I described. I've fixed it, updated the jar and attached it to this message. Since It's only 7k, I hope it's okay that I have reposted it.
An additional detail I previously overlooked was the version of castor that I'm using. I'm using a version I checked out from CVS on Friday -- I've verified that the problem also exists in the latest 0.9.3.9 release.
