I'm using OJB now. I'm using the ODMG, but I've learned both JDO and ODMG
and I don't see the huge gap to switch over. The biggest problem I've had
with OJB is the support for SAP database, but I've now got it working. I'm
in the process now of building out of box support for SapDB in OJB. If your
not experienced in how to setup and use OJB specific configuration, I would
recommend putting in the extra effort of using ODMG until JDO gets done.
Besides, if you use Castor JDO you'll have to change all db code to switch
to Sun JDO. I would say their about a month away from being able to use the
JDO interface. I never found any other opensource JDO's out there. I looked
into KodoJDO, but I would rather stay opensource.

It's not the first time I see the advice to move to ojb over here.
I'm wondering:
- is castor really that bad (I can see it's not doing the most efficient
thing everytime, but the functionality that's there works)
- the ojb folks don't have a jdo interface yet (only a prototype). They
are using the odmg interface which means about everything database
related has to be rewritten. Maybe it's better to wait until the ojb jdo
layer is complete...
- maybe someone has tried using one of the commerciel jdo
implementations instead of castor. I'm wondering if that would be an
option for the time being .
greets,
Klaasjan
