Ok, this is just my dyslexia taking form is all. I had the key generator in
there, but I had the key-generator="IDENTITY" in the field instead of the
class tag. :(

Take a look at key-generator:
http://castor.exolab.org/key-generator.html

When you have configured Castor with the relevant key-generator you can 
just call obj.getId() after a create().
