The cloning of the *DateFormat objects was an interim solution until
we could determine a better mechanism for handling this. The code in
Castor XML is needed, obviously, by Castor XML. Unless Arnaud and Keith
want to adopt the Apache class, Keith and I had already talked about
the relevant Castor XML date code being extracted into a utility class
so it's easier for Castor JDO to use.
