Sylvie,
there have been some posts regarding the same issue (CLOBs and Oracle) recently.
Please have a look at the mailing list archives (you might have to
search the archives for both castor-dev and castor-user), and see what you can find.
Other than this, please wait for Bruce to reply as he's got more
experience with BLOB/CLOBs than I do ...
