yes it would (in theory, at least .. ). Unfortunately, this would have a reverse performance effect as Castor right now does not distinguish between a
performance cache and a store for objects loaded as part of a long transaction. Unless such a clean separation is introduced, it will be nearly impossible to
introduce any improvements here.
So long as the FS cache itself included a tunable in-memory cache, it would perform the same role; objects accessed within the last n seconds or the last m objects held in memory, with LT objects persisted off disk. :)
