Thorsten,

yes, you are correct. The current version of Castor (0.9.5.3) does not support
polymorphic collections, and this is nit likely to change with the next release
either.

Having said that, this is one of the big items on our to-do list. I am aware that such
a statement has been made quite some times on this mailing list over
the last 18 months or so (with no positive side-effects ... :-( ) , but I can reassure
you that this is going to change as the number of committers has been
increasing (again) and (hopefully) will increase even further. I cannot promise you a
fixed date, but within the next few months is a reasonable statement to
make, I believe.

If you are interested to join us on our effort, please have a look at bug 1137 where
some discussions have been taking place re: this feature. I think it's
reasonable to say that before Bruce hasn't finished his 'Castor book' things will not
start, but I hope that within the next four weeks or so, we'll start getting
our heads together.

I hope that this is the kind of answer you have been looking for. Other than this, let
me remind you (and all the others) that this project has been and still is
a community effort.

Regards
Werner

PS What Cocoon version are you migrating towards ? And why does this force you to
abandon 0.8.11 of Castor ?
