I'm still investigating but another issue could be the numeric data type handling of Oracle. It always converts into a BigDecimal and may cause casting trouble.
I've changed it to varchar types and convert them e.g. to Long for processing, for presenting them in the web interface they have to be strings anyhow.
Before I make the bug report I want to be sure what is really causing it.
