Hello Ken, there's no need to 'browse' the JAR files, as the filenames are pretty much self-explanatory. Have a look at
http://castor.exolab.org/download.html#Latest-Stable-Release where'll find a short description for each file offered at ftp://ftp.exolab.org. But to answer your question completely, for the release 0.9.6 (to be released soon), you'd need the full castor-0.9.6.jar, which includes both Castor XML and JDO. Unfortunately you'll not be able to drop the XML part, as Castor JDO relies on Castor XML for reading its configuration and mapping files.
