Hi Dave,

Spray was an interesting boat.  As I recall he found and resurrected her from a deteriorated condition in someone's back yard.  The design was classic schooner type hull, not very deep and somewhat like a cork on the water that did him well.  His story gets more than a little exciting being chased by pirates at Punta Arenas.

I'm almost finished reading Saiiling Alone Around the World by Joshua Slocum who is the first to have circumnavigated the globe alone.  It is a great read!  Tomorrow (2/20) is the 162nd anniversary of his birth.  It seems appropriate that we spend a moment of silence and remember Captain Slocum and his good ship, the 37' sloop "Spray." 

And in honor of him I'm taking my sails to Havre de Grace, MD tomorrow to be cleaned and repaired!
