When I removed BayBird's galley a few years ago for bulkhead and countertop repair, I added both blue foam insulation (conduction) and a layer of that stuff that looks like bubble wrap covered with silvery mylar (conduction + radiation).  We still use it for those tasty non-perishibles and carry a cooler or two for the things we want to keep cold.  I second the obvious that frozen foods act as their own ice.

It turns out thermal energy travel via conduction and radiation. Taking thegalley out and warping the icebox an 1" of Blue Dow Corning Styrofoam board
will do wonders with conductive heat transfer but as long as you there add a
thermal radiation barrier as well, a space blanket too.
