Perfect; thanks.  Looks like the “official” part is a cotter pin indeed…

Sebastian,

Congrats on getting into the water.  We splashed April 15, went down river to a big fireworks show on Apr 22 and haven't been out since because of other things going on.  Had a great time at the show, will go back next year if conditions are favorable.  There is much more to the story, too long to detail here.

On my boat, an '85 #5874, the connection between boom and mast is a clevis pin, about !/4 " as I remember.  We broke the aluminum casting at the end of the boom during a strong (some would say violent) jib) during a race.  Thanks to some folks on the list, bought a replacement and was back on the water without delay.

Whatever you put in there use stainless.

Finally got in the water yesterday!  Just in time for what appears to be a week of crappy weather here in New York .

Anyways, I seem to have lost the bolt that holds the boom to the mast – remember taking it off and mistakingly brining it home but don’t know where it ended up.  Can someone send me the size and length of the bolt necessary, as well as the name of the type of nut it takes on the end so I can describe it to someone at the hardware store? I seem to recall its got some kind of rubber on the nut which keeps it snug…

Thanks!

Sebastian
