Thanks for all of the response Iv'e received in regards to moving my C-27. It appears the best bet is going to be having it moved with a boat transport trailer and then set down on jack stands. Thanks again to all of you, kind regards, Mike.-------------- Original message --------------

Hi Mike,

Easiest way may be to have it loaded on to a boat transporter and have them place it where you will work on it
with blocks under the keel and 5 stands to support it.  The stands will give you more flexibility when cleaning and painting the bottom than the cradle.  The cradle creates a box around the bottom side and makes it more difficult to
load/unload unless a travel lift is available.  Meerschaum has rested on stands for years and I don't miss the cradle.

It's 125 mile trip mostly highway I would like to have the boat next to my garage on dirt, its really looking like I will have to buy a trailer that the boat and cradle will stay on. Thanks a bunch for your response. Mike.

Hi Mike,

I think it’s all about what you can do to off load at the end of the transport. If you’re truly bringing it home then your options get limited quickly by the maneuvering room and the type of surface involved (Lawn, dirt, gravel, concrete, etc.).

What does the destination look like?

Subject: catalina27-talk: transporting a c-27

Hello, I'm sure this is a question/topic that has been talked about several times in the past but I'm a new member and C-27 owner and need some help. I recently bought a 1975 C-27 that needs quite a bit of work and is 125 miles away from my home what are my transport options? it is on a cradle. I was thingking about maybe having the boat and cradle put on a trailer but how would it be secured? And how would I get it off the trailer when I get it home? any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike.
